Dashboard & Tasks
When customers login, they're greeted by an action-focused dashboard with an overview of Shipment-related Tasks and Messages, a tool for exploring shipment rates, shipment reporting stats, and tracking info for current in-transit shipments. Shipment progress is essential. We created a flow for managing Tasks: providing status information, a system for notifications, and a dedicated view to work on and triage Tasks.
Rate Explorer
Traders are one of the primary personas for the product. They have many pre-negotiated rates with carriers which are used to book shipments. The rates are complex, based on criteria including: mode of transport (sea, air, land), particular carriers, validity dates, and equipment. We built Rate Explorer so Traders can browse and filter their rates, helping them find the most suitable for a shipment. Price isn’t always the driving factor. Traders upload their rate spreadsheet for ingestion into the tool. Then explore, book on the best rate, or request a new rate from the carrier.
Booking
Haven had a light booking tool which captured top-level information, requiring Haven operations to perform manual fulfillment steps. We designed a comprehensive booking flow from scratch to capture and fully automate booking with carriers. Customers can start a booking by preference: guided form/flow, upload an already completed off-platform booking confirmation, or rebook previous shipments via saved Favorites. The design challenge was to capture the required volume of booking data while minimizing information density and reducing overall time to book.
Shipments
Haven customers are high volume shippers: commodities traders, large food producers, and some CPG. These shipments are complex, requiring participation from multiple parties (internal & external partners/suppliers) across many shipment phases. These groups need to collaborate on several required documents in order to fully process shipments for transit. Once in-transit, their teams need to track the shipment to ensure on-time arrival. Haven’s shipment modules are designed to improve team collaboration, visibility, and automate processes. We created new modules for voyage selection, messaging & notifications, workgroups, and auditing. Improvements were made to existing shipment list, document management, and quoting modules. Concepts were designed for document creation and inventory management. More info on each screen (hover).
Track & Trace App
Haven is developing a comprehensive, mobile-first app for tracking shipments in all modes of transport, with visibility at the container and parcel-level. Notifications are surfaced to provide updates and alerts. Customers simply purchase and download the app, import completed bookings, and easily share/invite team members to track, while managing their access. I directed a team of 2 Sr Product Designers on the project.
Reporting & Analytics
We designed and built a comprehensive suite of reporting and analytics tools from scratch. The reports provide highly granular views of freight spend, allocation, and invoice auditing. The Provider Performance tool helps customers make better decisions on the carriers they use for shipments, mining historical rate and dependability data. A Detention & Demurrage report allows customers to manage their freetime, helping them avoid shipment overcharges.
Onboarding
We created a flow allowing customers to perform the initial steps of account setup: importing partners, team members, and financial information. Over a short series of screens (with engaging illustrations by Justin Tran) customers can upload or input their data. A summary screen with process validation is provided at the end.
